A great start to the new term!

10 September 2021 (by sparamore)

It's been a great start to the 2021-22 academic year!

The children are working hard and are enjoying getting on with their new topic.  This year we are starting the year with a whole school topic based around the big question - ‘Why do we need to save the rainforest?’ Every class is learning about the rainforest in order to answer this question, with each year group learning at their own level and building on their prior learning.  As part of this we have been working on a whole school art project too and we will post pictures of the artwork on our website soon!

The whole school focus next week is Where are the rainforests?

The following weeks will focus on

What is a rainforest?

What lives in a rainforest? and

Why do we need the rainforest?

After that the whole school will learn about Brazil, and the focus will shift to conservation with the questions

What is happening to the rainforest?

What effect can the destruction of the rainforest have? and

What can we do to save the rainforest?

By the end of this topic we will have lots of work to share with you.  A key feature of our curriculum is knowledge.  We intend for the children to know lots about the topics they study.  Over the next few weeks, if you would like to talk to your child about the work they have been doing and the things they have been learning, we hope they will be able to tell you lots!
