Who are we?

Structure of committees

KPS governors do not operate with a formal committee structure. It has been found more beneficial to use the following:

  • Full GB meeting near to the beginning of each term – discussion items referred to Development meeting
  • Development meeting, involving all governors in the second half of each term. This meeting addresses items across the full spectrum of GB responsibility
  • Finance/Personnel/Curriculum meetings convened when necessary. Teresa Waine heads up Finance, Sheila Hill heads up Personnel and Curriculum. Governors have expressed their preference for committee remits and make up committees where and when convened.

I have lived in Kinoulton for 28 years and both my children were educated at the school.

I retired some years ago from secondary teaching in Modern Languages.

I was employed by the Local Authority as a clerk to Complaints and Permanent Exclusion hearings. I also worked in a team who delivered governor training across the county.

I have wide experience of school and governor issues and I hope to use this knowledge to help the school to build upon its proven previous success.

I live in Upper Broughton and have two young daughters both of whom attend the school. .

I have worked in Education for over twenty years and during this time I have had a variety of roles including working in School Improvement for Northamptonshire County Council, which involved training schools in new initiatives, supporting the process of self-evaluation and supporting schools to improve outcomes for children. I also owned and managed a day nursery for several years and worked as an advisory teacher for Early Years settings. I currently work as a University Lecturer on Initial Teacher Training Programmes.

My passion is Early Years and I believe that all children should be given the best quality provision particularly in their early years. I have contributed to a number of text books for teachers and Early Years educators, writing on subjects such as parental involvement in children’s learning, child development and adult engagement with children.

During my time on the Governing Body I hope to share my expertise and experience with the school and I look forward to meeting and listening to the children and their families.
